ANAHEIM, Calif. – Year-round at Disney California Adventure Park, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! packs in big thrills with free-fall drop sequences and different storylines for guests to experience.
Beginning in the late afternoon each day during Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort, Aug. 21-Oct. 31, 2026, the attraction gets a monster makeover into Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark, a daring adventure filled with creatures on the loose and Rocket scheming to save Groot, adding chaos to the high-energy action.
- In Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, Rocket finds his fellow Guardians of the Galaxy trapped in the Fortress of The Collector, Taneleer Tivan, and guests assist him with a daring escape plan. In Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark, the story continues moments afterward, as Rocket discovers that they have inadvertently left Groot behind. Guests must team up with Rocket to distract the monsters unleashed inside the Fortress and rescue his buddy.
- Each day later in the afternoon, the attraction transforms as the Collector’s Fortress goes dark, alarms sound and special exterior lighting signals that something inside has gone awry. Guests may check the Disneyland app* or Disneyland.com for the timing of this transformation.
- Inside the lobby of the Fortress, flashing alarms and creepy sounds alert guests that creatures have escaped their vitrine cages and chaos has broken out. Meanwhile, the Collector’s ever-resourceful assistant Apheta calmly reassures guests that all is in order, and this is just a momentary setback.
- Written especially for the attraction by Tyler Bates, composer for the first two “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, an original 1970s-style punk rock song, “Monsters After Dark,” amps up the experience.
